Vacancy: Researcher 0.6 – 0.8 FTE (M/F)

Working at the Centre of Expertise Water Technology (CEW) means working in a growing organisation with an energetic team. The CEW devises, researches and tests innovative solutions for the increasing global problems related to climate, environment, water and food, on behalf of companies and governments. The CEW does this in collaboration with students, lecturers and researchers from NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences and Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences, among others, in order to contribute to educational development, acceleration of innovation and talent development.

Due to a growing order portfolio, we are looking to expand our team. As a researcher at the CEW you are an important link in the chain of government – education – business. Project Managers, Project Engineers, Lecturers, Researchers and students work closely together to make the connection between the demand from businesses and the innovation capacity of universities of applied sciences.

This is what you are going to do:

Together with the other researchers in our team, you will ensure professional supervision of the students conducting the research (Vocational education, Aplied Sciences and University level) on a daily basis. You coordinate several studies simultaneously and are responsible for the quality and the results.

In addition, you draw up the action plan for the various studies in collaboration with the project manager and the client, and you write research plans, subsidy proposals and (national) programs.

Your profile:

You have completed a relevant PhD or Master and have at least 3 years of work experience in project-based research. Collaboration with students appeals to you and you get satisfaction from the development they go through, thanks in part to your excellent guidance. The social objectives of the CEW and working in a non-profit organisation that revolves around students appeals to you.

You have knowledge of the field of water technology or are willing to learn more about it. Optimising technological processes and thinking about and advising on next steps in research from lab to full scale holds no secrets for you. Where necessary, you act as a sparring partner for our customers.

Other traits and skills:

  • experience with and pleasure in guiding and supervising students;
  • curious and versatile;
  • team player;
  • flexible;
  • good communication skills, both orally and in writing;
  • good command of the English language and preferably also the Dutch language or the willingness to learn it.

What we offer you:

  • work in an energetic and informal team;
  • a competitive salary and excellent conditions;
  • a varied range of duties with individual responsibility within a small team;
  • a job with social relevance.
